Francis Merryman

I was fascinated by the `Francis Merryman's Story' on your website, as I believe that he was my great-great-grandfather.

My grandfather (Kenneth Francis Merryman) remembers hearing that his grandfather worked on a ship, he thought as a purser.

Francis Merryman subsequently married Elizabeth, and became a publican when he settled down in Lancashire. We don't know much more because son, also Francis, ran away from home at sixteen to join the army, and never spoke of his family.

We know a little from the son's wife, Agnes, and a strange coincidence is that Francis Jr. was also one of twelve survivors in his battalion at Gallipoli during World War 1.
